Lindan Burns earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in viola performance from The Juilliard School, where she studied with Misha Amory and Hsin-Yun Huang. She was a proud recipient of the Jerome L. Greene Fellowship, which aims to advance the next generation of performing artists. She was a Principal Violist of the Juilliard Orchestra and served as an Ear Training Fellow. She also competed as a Finalist in the Juilliard’s 2023-2024 Viola Concerto Competition. 

Lindan has worked with world-renown artists including Itzhak Perlman, Cynthia Phelps, Rebecca Young, Vivek Kamath, Carol Rodland, Kirsten Doctor, Brett Deubner, Nokuthula Ngwenyama, Sheng Li, Csaba Erdelyi, Milena Pajaro-van de Stadt, Robert McDonald, and the Emerson, Brentano, Borromeo, Cooperstown, Cavani, Miro, Pacifica, Faure, and Calder Quartets. She has attended numerous music festivals including the Young Artist’s Program National Arts Centre in Ottawa, Castleman Quartet Program, Perlman Music Program (“Littles”), Next Festival of Emerging Artists, Yellow Barn Young Artist’s Program, Taos School of Music, Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, and HIMA USA. She has also performed in Juilliard’s Spring 2023 Chamberfest.

Passionate about interdisciplinary arts, Lindan enjoys collaborating with composers, choreographers, producers, and musicians. She has worked with innovative artists such as Juilliard creative associate Nadia Sirota, Mike Block, Miranda Cuckson, Jessica Meyer, and violin/cello duo Arkai. She has performed improvisatory concerts in NYC, and participated in creative workshops within Juilliard, including the 2019 Creativity Lab, a 3-day collaborative workshop with dancers, actors, singers, and instrumentalists. In February 2023, she was the Video Performing Artist for The New Series: Terry Riley’s In C, a multi-media concert through Juilliard’s Center for Innovation in the Arts featuring students from Juilliard NYC and Tianjin. In August 2023, she performed a concert with Broadway director, Ted Sperling, celebrating Stephen Sondheim’s legacy. In December 2023, she performed in Juilliard’s The New Series: Ellen Taaffe Zwilich Portrait, and she most recently was invited to perform Tania Leon’s Ritmicas in Juilliard’s 2024 Commencement Ceremony.

While music is Lindan’s first priority, she enjoys a well-rounded life with hobbies such as; rock climbing, ballroom dancing, hiking, horseback riding, and exploring museums.
